The Program

Our Preschool aims to cater for each child’s individual needs and interests within trusting and secure surroundings.  We believe it is vital to foster self esteem, empathy for others, sharing and co-operation, independence and problem solving.  We also aim to reflect the Australian culture by encouraging indigenous and multicultural perspectives in the children’s’ play.  We feel that children learn best through play and language-rich interactions.
School readiness is addressed for children getting ready for ‘Big School’.  This includes information sessions for children and parents/carers, visits to local schools, and information exchanges with the local schools.
All staff plan, organise and supervise the programs.  Written examples are displayed on classroom noticeboards.
Springwood Preschool has two fully staffed classrooms, one with a maximum of 22 children and the other with a maximum of 30 children in the room.

The Environment

Our play area is fully accredited by the Department of Education and Communities as being safe, clean, and educational.  It includes soft-fall and grass, a large sandpit area, a hill with tunnel, a large climbing centre with slide, a cubby house, and enough area for the assortment of bikes, scooters and other outdoor equipment available to the children.  We also currently have a small flower garden/vegetable patch, which the children maintain.  The outdoor area is very well shaded, providing essential sun-protection.
